Crane Technicians (hydraulics & pneumatics)


Job Title: Crane Technician

Location: Christchurch

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Check the crane's air, water, oil, fuel and lifting equipment

  • Drive mobile cranes to work sites

  • Set up cranes and make sure they are secure

  • Organise the lift plan and allocate work to the team

  • Make sure loads are not too heavy for the crane, and identify and control any hazards

  • Follow directions from a team member on the ground 

  • Lift and move loads and place them in the required position.

Experience & Requirements

  • Experience in specialist hydraulics maintenance required

  • Position involves maintenance of truck-mounted cranes (including stripping cylinders and re-kitting)

  • Excellent communication skills essential

  • Must adhere safety rules that govern cranes, such as regulations for road operations

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines

  • Must have at least two years of experience in an industrial environment

  • Prior experience with motor controls and a working knowledge of electrical schematics and symbols.

  • Skilled with diagnostics and troubleshooting complex hydraulics & pneumatics parts

  • Must have strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Familiar with basic computer software and hardware

  • Prior crane experience

  • Must possess a valid drivers’ license
